The mission of the United Labor Agency of Orange County is to provide services to stabilize and strengthen families and to partner with community, faith-based organizations and others to meet this goal. We moved from a program at OCUW that once provided services to union members and their families to an agency that now serves the entire community. We work with other organizations to build collaborative efforts to tackle issues such as local social service funding, state budget priorities and economic development. We provide services to families and others primarily in Orange County, although our client base extends throughout Southern California.

Types of services range from help with rent/mortgage assistance, utilities payment assistance, food vouchers, food boxes, food bags, Case Management Services, referrals to other programs to further assist our clients and other assorted client services. Our clients are required to complete a budget worksheet so that they can compare their income to their expenses and come up with a budget plan to meet their needs. Case management services are critical to our programs. We have over 29 years of experience in providing case management services to our clients.

The professional staff and volunteers of ULAOC regularly attend training programs to upgrade their skill and knowledge levels. Our Information and Referral Services and our ability to provide a rapid response to assist families and individuals are critical to the delivery of our services. We coordinate our programs with public, religious and other Community Based Agencies.

Due to the assistance families have received from ULAOC, we were able to save families from being evicted and from losing their homes through foreclosure, thus allowing them to remain stable in their homes avoiding homelessness. Because of the assistance that we have provided our clients they have been able to keep their utilities on, keep their families nourished and have been able to keep their children in their schools. We work with many other agencies that provide similar services in Orange County.
